Final Refugee Interview Video

The final editing process of the video was challenging. We were required to learn how to use new editing softwares, and also keeping in mind the process of editing. In the Out On the Wire text, we read the chapter about your baby is ugly, and how you may see what you created as perfect but someone may be confused by it. It is important to be able to take someones feedback and make your videos message clearer for a viewer.

"Recognize and employ characteristics of the types of writing (genres) that are appropriate for engaging public audiences about issues of public interest (Genre Knowledge)."

It was important when creating our final video to keep in mind the message that Cecelia wanted to convey about her struggle. We had to be careful not to take out important things and not to edit it in a way that would change the meaning of her words. It was also important for us to keep the refugee crisis in the message of the story, we talked about her experience and what she got out of it, but we had to keep some of the big picture of the background of what is happening in the area.

"Draw on your audiences’ shared interests, goals, values, and communicative practices in order contribute effectively to ongoing public conversations about issues of public interest (Discourse Community Knowledge)."

The video project was something new for me, so it was interesting to learn a new way to convey a message to an audience. The use of a video for this I believe is the most effective for continuing to share the message of struggles of refugees. Public conversation about the topic will be ongoing and the video that we created can continue to be viewed.
